What does it actually mean to be the Church?
Following Jesus was never meant to be a spectator experience. The Church is more than a place we attend, a service we sit through, or a collection of programs we participate in. It is a people-a body of believers learning to follow Jesus together.
Being the Church: The Bible Study is an eight-week journey through Scripture exploring biblical community, discipleship, participation, spiritual maturity, and what it means to belong to one another as the body of Christ.
Through Scripture, thoughtful questions, personal reflection, group conversation, and practical application, you'll wrestle with questions like:
• What does it actually mean to be a disciple of Jesus?
• What is the Church for?
• What does it mean to be members of one another?
• Are we truly known within Christian community?
• What is the difference between showing up and participating?
• What do we have to offer-and what do we need to learn to receive?
• What does spiritual maturity really look like?
• And once we know these things... then what?
Each session includes space to slow down, look closely at Scripture, think honestly about your own life, and decide what obedience might look like in practice.
Because faith is belief activated.
Designed for both individuals and small groups, this study can be used completely on its own. It also serves as a companion to Being the Church: Rediscovering What It Means to Follow Jesus Together for those who want to go deeper.
The goal isn't to finish eight sessions with a longer list of things the Church should be doing differently.
The goal is to become more faithful as part of it.
To follow Jesus.
To belong to His people.
To know and be known.
To participate.
To give and receive.
To become like Jesus.
And to help someone else follow Him.
There is room at the table.
