Ladies first!
Long before Dracula haunted the pages of literature, readers devoured tales of the vixens of vampirism: Carmilla, Lamia, Clarimonde, and others! Nine classic Hell's belles of horror fill the pages of this curated, edited, and annotated volume of traditional vampire tales written by literary greats including Poe, Kipling, and Goethe -- giving readers a murderous mix of fabulous femmes fatales!
Included within this collection's covers are classic poems and stories mostly written in the Victorian era and featuring female vampires, as well as modern notes and footnotes regarding the authors' lives and literary choices. Classic contributors include Edgar Allan Poe, Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, John Keats, Ernst Raupach, Madison Julius Cawein, Théophile Gautier, and Rudyard Kipling, and modern notes for the anthology were researched and written by Shannon Delany. Book Club Questions and a list of Sources conclude the volume, allowing readers to further engage their curiosity.
This collection of retellings also includes Notes with brief author biographies, Book Club Questions, and a list of sources.
