To rid himself of bouts of blindness, Steele allows himself to be initiated into a cult known as Deajor. They prick his hand with a crystal dagger, turning his arm to crystal he can morph into any shape, then slip a wooden beaded bracelet over it to halt the spread. The initiation also comes with strange dreams: a quaint village shared by everyone the crystal has touched, a place where adherents of Deajor can live forever, even after their bodies outside are gone.
Quickly enough, Steele finds out Deajor isn't all sunshine and rainbows when the cult leader makes him turn on his own friends. That betrayal sends him looking for a way out, and he finds one: a cure hidden in the seeds of the Eluna Tree. But fate intervenes before it can be mass produced, and now Deajor is sending their army of crystal thralls to fell the tree and destroy any hope of overthrowing their control.
Steele and his allies must defend the Great Tree in the world of flesh and blood, while in the realm of dreams, Steele leads a rebellion of the cult's own captives against The Great One's castle in the vision realm. Two battles. One war. Lose either, and both are lost.
This isn't just a fight for a tree or a cure.
It's a fight for self-determination for all of humanity.
