With a specific focus on the period from 2000 to 2015, this book offers a range of distinct and diverse perspectives on contemporary Australian film and television. In response to what has been dubbed the "international turn" in Australian film and television production since 2000, this volume proposes new ways of thinking about Australian screen media that attempt to account for the porous and blurred nature of national boundaries, globally dispersed production flows, and contingent relational networks between the Australian film and television industry, Hollywood and other international production systems. This collection brings together a range of essays that offer distinct and varying perspectives on the textual, institutional, and industrial contexts of Australian film and television since the turn of the century. Contributors consider trends in films and television programs, aesthetic cycles and filmmaking, examine the evolving industrial landscape and consumption practices, and question the implications these may have for Australian film and television in the future.
