Over them watches Mentalbus, the elder archmage of the Arcanum of Dawnfire, a scholar who remembers the first forging of the Soul Gem and the ancient sin that bound the chaos demon Veydrath deep beneath the mountains.

When Havenmoor falls to fire and darkness, the five races unite in desperation. In the mountain citadel of Dawnfire, their fragile alliance is forged amid suspicion and pride. Dwarves demand debt and recompense, elves speak in riddles of coming ruin, humans hunger for leadership, halflings beg for peace, and gnomes chase salvation through invention. Yet even as they march beneath a single banner, mistrust festers. Beneath every oath, the crimson fire grows stronger, feeding on anger and division.
