Antiope. A love story

The story of Antiope, starting from her arrival at the home of the Mencarelli family up to the tragic event that is the main feature of this lovely novel about "four-legged life", is sweet and moving. Luckily, thanks to Antiope, the tragic event resolves without any major adverse consequences. Antiope - a German Shepherd with a grand and mythological name - arrives as a much desired and awaited gift to the adolescent of the family. And becomes an integral part of the family with the typical sensitivity and insights of the doggy species, absorbing its moods and fate, and experiencing both its happy and sad events. Written with a well-chosen style by Lorenzo Puccinelli Sannini, "Antiope: a love story" is a dog lover's novel with a clear objective. Indeed, the Author has dedicated the book "to all dog-lovers, but especially to people who do not love dogs, in the hope that after reading the book they will have a change of heart." And together with the two-legged and four-legged members of the Mencarelli family experiencing daily life affected by the economic crisis gripping the Western world, we suffer but then rejoice at the unexpected ending. And animal-lovers are somewhat moved by the scene at the end of the book. Antiope running towards her convalescing master, people opening up around forming a sort of human corridor, the look of the little lady dog and the tears of the man seem like a "deja vu" to us. And Antiope becomes our dogs, the one who are next to us here and now, and the ones who are no longer with us, in a loving embrace that remains inside us.
