Analyst

Daniel Imroth is the only son of a wealthy and aspiring doctor and pharmaceutical chemist who takes young Daniel from his mother to begin another life in one of the newest and grandest of corporate city-states rapidly emerging the world over, located on the rolling plains of Midwest North America, amidst the fragmented remnants of what was once known as the United States of America. Yet the troubled youngster soon becomes estranged from his father, who has little time to spare in his quest to become a great leader and pioneer of the new city-states. The story takes up his plight years later, now as an adult- "Mr. Daniels," as he prefers others to call him-and holding a position as history teacher at the secondary-school level-a position well below his capabilities-until in a desperate bid to discovery his true heritage he unwittingly accepts an unusual assignment on the outside...in the surrounding unincorporated areas, the so-called open-air towns and cities of yesteryear. He embarks on a journey of self-discovery into this strange land, all the while bedeviled by a ghostly premonition from his past as he falls in with four rather curious and somewhat familiar characters along the way, themselves seeking their own escape in their own way...from a world that has been all but forgotten.
