In 1373, gravely ill and expecting to die, a young woman of Norwich received sixteen "shewings" of the love of God - and lived to spend the rest of her days walled into a cell beside a church, pondering what she had seen. She became the first woman to write a book in the English language, and out of that hidden place came the most hopeful sentence in English devotion: all shall be well.

All Shall Be Well keeps Julian's sixteen Revelations as a sixteen-day retreat.
