A Long Shot

The sequel to Christmas Turkeys.

When Norman Conquest started yet another attempt at writing his elusive best-selling novel the question was posed: would good triumph over evil? Well, twelve months later you'd have to say evil, as represented by a ruthless gang of people traffickers, seemed to be winning pretty convincingly. Certainly way ahead on points.

Sure, evil had had its setbacks. A falling-out amongst the gang had led to the murder of one of their number; their former leader Lord Hunter had died in a mysterious car crash and Ahmad Khan, their link man with the Eastern European gangs, had been forced to jump bail and flee the country. But they were simply that. Setbacks. With a new leader in place the gang were still very much in the game.

As for the good guys? Unconvincing attempts by the police to trace DS Alex Norton, believed to have been abducted by the trafficking gang, having failed miserably it seemed the only ones really determined to discover what had happened to her were Alex's sister Kate and the maverick Interpol agent Thorn. But then, just as it appeared they might be getting warm, Kate too had disappeared in circumstances remarkably similar to her sister.

Leaving Norman Conquest one of the many pondering the question, what had happened to the Norton girls? And Thorn desperately trying to find the answer.
