A Journey to My Soul is a deeply personal collection of my poetry. Life hasn't always been easy for me. I grew up in a life full of trauma, poverty, physical and verbal abuse. It was a pattern of abuse I could not escape from and spent my young adult life living with my boyfriend who ended up sexually assaulting me. Once I found the courage and strength to leave him, I was able to begin my inner work of deep pain and deep healing. I had to process the pain of my childhood, the trauma of my assault, and heal my inner child. Most of my pain was poured out of me in the art of poetry. A Journey to My Soul is about healing, love and loss, and reclaiming my independence. I have written in journals for over thirty years to finally come to a place of forgiveness, inner peace, acceptance, and love for myself.
