What job would you like to do?
Danny loves his job and has been doing it for more than 25 years. But finding the right job was not always easy.
At school, Danny sometimes found lessons difficult and did not always feel that he belonged. Some people made assumptions about what he could do. But with the right support, opportunities and encouragement, Danny discovered his strengths, built his confidence and found a job that was right for him.
Inspired by real people and co-produced with people with lived experience, A Job For Me is an uplifting rhyming story about disability, employment, aspiration and belonging.
Along the way, children meet different characters with their own interests, talents and dreams - from baking to computers - showing that there is no single path to success and that everyone deserves the opportunity to discover what they are good at.
At its heart is a simple message: we all have something to contribute, and with the right opportunities and support, everyone deserves the chance to thrive.
Perfect for children, families, schools, teachers, SEND settings and anyone passionate about disability inclusion and raising aspirations.
Written by award-winning author and social entrepreneur Alex Winstanley and illustrated by Lisa Williams, A Job For Me was co-produced alongside Wigan Council Supported Employment Service staff, experts by experience and family members, bringing real experiences and perspectives to every page.
