Different Rose

Nanjiro is an eleven-year-old girl who comes from Endulen which is a Maasai village. The village is well-known for its strict adherence to traditional customs of the Maasai. Despite expressing interest to go to school, Nanjiro is refused the chance to execute her desire. Instead, her father, Mzee Lukumay, plans a marriage for her to Mzee Kosingo, a man old enough to be her grandfather. Against the traditional customs of the village, Nanjiro rejects the marriage and secretly escapes from the village a night before her wedding. Wherever she goes, she never forgets her dream to go to school. While working in one restaurant, she meets the Massawe family which adopts her as their own child and helps her to fulfil her dreams. Nanjiro studies up to university and becomes an influential Lawyer. Due to her fame, people Endulen get the news about her and request her to be their member of parliament for the area. She accepts the offer and uses her position to change the mindset of the people of Endulen. From a rose that was meant to be married off at a young age, Nanjiro proved that she was actually a different rose meant to shine brighter.
