Draethus is a Soldier of the Void, destined to die. Sacrificing his life could save millions from the Heridian menace, a bio-robotic race of flesh and steel. When an ancient star vessel appears with the same time-shifting ability, the enemy pivot their attention.

Draethus and his crew hunt the enemy through a tear in the sky, and discover the conflict far larger. After rescuing a stricken space pirate vessel, their leader, Xain Raeson, proposes a plan that could alter the war. A drastic attack on the Heridian home-world.

But to do so risks their enemy capturing the star vessel they need to release their masters.
