At the beginning of this tale, a mysterious narrator introduces us to one J Alderbee with whom he would be compelled to guard and serve as his dubious confidant.
Raised by unusually strict parents, J lived in a world of solitude. Any talk of his family's past was forbidden, and an enforced silence was imposed to "keep Satan from the door".
He would later escape from his parents' austere lifestyle by moving to the North Country he had so grown to admire and love.
Soon to be instilled within him was a passion for clocks. The plan was to exchange his adept laborer's mitts for those of an artisan's skilled hands. He would become a clocksmith! The subsequent journey awaited him...
In the aftermath of a violent storm and while trying to complete a mundane chore, Alderbee spotted an alluring clock sitting on the side of a muddy road. His discovery would soon lead him down a path of intrigue, requiring him to make punishing choices.
Little did he know that this would be his introduction to
EVIL personified!
