Mankind has achieved greatness and once again tries to build a tower to heaven in the form of a virtual environment called Places, where people live, work and play. Jerrod Jones is the CEO of Quantum Systems and the creator of Places. He wanted to free the world but instead has provided a new chain that is wrapping tightly around them. He is the most powerful man in the world but struggles to save his marriage from the snares set against him. The governments of the world watch helplessly as this new way of living dissolves their borders, steals their brick and mortar businesses and makes them virtual.
