Third Dose

TWO DOSES FAILED.Two complete doses of lethal injection failed to kill Mara Vance. The families of the men she lured, murdered, and scattered across five states watched her leave the execution chamber alive. The attempt left Mara dependent on a wheelchair, but her memory and her talent for finding weakness survived. With her sentence commuted to life without parole, she has years to observe, write, and wait.Fifteen years later, prison guard Evan Cade learns that the father he believed abandoned him was one of her victims. Mara recognizes Evan first. She feeds him fragments of truth designed to make him doubt his mother, his work, and every answer he thought he had found. The closer Evan gets to his father's last days, the less he can tell whether he is uncovering evidence or following a plan Mara prepared for him.If women begin vanishing along that same roadside route, who is following in her footsteps?
