Sinking in Plain Sight

Myron Bontrager would have drowned at age 12 if his older brother had not noticed him struggling. Years later, after following a call into ministry, he would experience similar suffocating feelings, as both an overseas missionary and a local pastor. The weight of expectations, along with balancing responsibilities to his church and his family, left him wondering if he was failing on all fronts. A large and exciting young adult ministry drastically declined in numbers, complaints and confrontations seemed to come in a steady barrage, and he couldn't communicate with his struggling son.  Finding new life and purpose as a coffee shop owner and in travel adventures, Myron's story comes full circle from childhood on a small Indiana farm to exploring the world, and from the certain, black-and-white theology of his youth to a simple faith that he is still rebuilding.
