Turn to an ancient Japanese needlework technique to update your home in a striking and minimalist way-from the author of The Ultimate Sashiko Source Book. The traditional Japanese embroidery technique, sashiko, is currently a major sewing trend in craft, interior design, and fashion. The big stitches are used to create stunning, geometric patterns and texture to make homewares with a stylish, Japanese minimalist look. This collection of eight simple sashiko patterns allows you try the technique yourself-projects include a tote bag, greetings cards, cushion, table mats, coaster, pocket hanging, a long sampler and Ranru hanging.Susan Briscoe is a leading expert in this traditional Japanese sewing technique, having first been introduced to sashiko in the early 1990s while teaching English in northern Japan."e;This book, like the craft that it takes as its focus, is minimalist and small . . . But I think that the simplicity of this collection really allows the individual pieces to shine . . . The photography is stunning, placing modern design against white walls with bits of Japanese art and decor sprinkled in."e; -Right Sides Together
