Questioning the Unquestionable toThink the Unthinkable and See the InvisibleOne thing that used to make me uncomfortable and bother me whenI was growing up was that when I looked around almost everybody waslike everybody else, doing what everybody was doing, making the samejokes, thinking thoughts that everybody was thinking, heading in the samedirection; for example, I would see five small kiosks selling the same thingson the same street. When someone started a business, a dozen others wouldstart doing the same thing; my view was that everything looked to be atstandstill, and I used to question this deep down in my heart and that stillbothers me till today because nobody is supposed to be like nobody: Iused to go to boarding school, stay, come back, and still find nothing haschanged nothing different, no progress. In fact, it looked like things weremoving backward; this used to depress me. Nothing changes in our lifeuntil we change. This does not mean that change cannot happen unlesswe do; there is a certain type of external change that happens even if wedo not; for example, your body changes with or without your permission.Environment change is another example; however, unless we change thingscan never change in our lives. You see, if we keep on thinking the samethoughts doing the same things like the past generations did, we will notmove forward but be at a standstill, and the problems with history repeatingitself is that it teaches us what we have already seen and takes us to wherewe have already been and to see what we have seen.
