Patterns of masculinity

What does it mean to be a man? What is the reason for devoting a collective book to studying different types of masculinities: traditional hegemonic masculinity, hyper-hegemonic masculinity, broken masculinity, and normative masculinity...? This is not due to an obsession with Western terminology, which for some people turns into a mere "fashion." Rather, it is an interest in a field of research: masculinity studies, Men Studies, which has witnessed an important development, especially in the last two decades, when collective studies, research, and writings have appeared (Book 12 by Lebanese Women Researchers, 2006- 2008, Abdel Samad Al-Dailami, May Ghoussoub, Amal Qarami,...) concerned with the forms of constructing masculinities in the "Arab world" and analyzing the experiences that men go through from early childhood until old age, and deconstructing the social representations, symbols and perceptions that society produces...This author It is an attempt to understand patterns of masculinity that the group insists on concealing or excluding because they do not reflect the specific model or standards of "perfect" masculinity and do not express the prevailing normative values.
