Ledge

Brad is fifteen. Emotionally, he's twelve. When his brother Jeremy bails, Brad is left in a house that keeps getting stranger — a mother with a Doberman colony in the garage, a fire in the kitchen, and two men who decide milkshakes are a good place to hide things he never asked for.Earl and Drew don't ask. They dose. Every trip, every blackout, every pink cloud and white thunder is Brad's brain trying to survive something being done to him, not something he went looking for. From a piss-colored pool chair in Western New York to an A-frame in a Nor'easter, to a blizzard in a dead General's house in Cheektowaga, to a Plymouth, Michigan bar where a guy in a white brim hat and red velour smoking jacket says he can help him find his voice — Brad keeps moving.THE LEDGE is not a drug story. It's a survival story. It's about what happens when a kid who still believes in safe zones, wicker chairs, and banana milkshakes is forced to navigate an adult world that has no business being his world, and still tries to get home.Contains non-consensual drugging of a minor (survival perspective, no glorification).
