However, her plans are scuppered when she falls pregnant by her fiances father. When the baby dies, she descends into a deep depression that ends in tragedy. Sigrid Undset (1882-1949) was a Norwegian novelist most famous for her trilogy "e;Kristin Lavransdatter"e;. She won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1928.
