History of Sino-American Relations (2001-2016)

China and the United States are two major countries in today's world, and their relationship is the focus of global attention. Since the first voyage of the American merchant ship "e;Empress of China"e; to China in 1784, the interactions between China and the United States have spanned over 200 years. Throughout this long period, the relationship between the two countries has experienced its share of ups and downs but remains extremely rich in content. This book outlines the basic trajectory of the evolution of Sino-American relations from 2001 to 2016, focusing on many new phenomena and developments since the new century, including China's stance and measures on the Taiwan issue and the evolution of related U.S. policies, cooperation and disagreements between China and the U.S. in dealing with the North Korean nuclear issue, the institutional construction of Sino-American relations, the development of exchanges and cooperation in various fields, the U.S. rebalancing strategy in the Asia-Pacific, China's proposal to build a new type of major-country relationship, and the constructive management of differences between China and the U.S.
