It reflects Tolstoy's miraculous ability for easy, flowing narration that achieves his goal through the closest and easiest way, and his skill in depicting scenes and characters' characteristics with quick, simple touches and penetrating suggestive gestures, as he begins to describe Characters by highlighting the physical characteristics and apparent features that indicate the type of personality, followed by talking about the spiritual qualities, and advantages, by talking about the spiritual qualities, psychological advantages, and moral traits, so the truth of the characters that you read about is revealed to you, and they appear to your imagination, and your eyes almost fall on them, and your hand touches them, She sees no harm in attaching it to the record of people she has lived with, whose morals she has known, and whose natures she has known. This short novel is one of his literary works that was published after his death, and he completed writing it when he was seventy-four years old.
