The book Shengde Xingrong: A Study of Eulogistic and Praising Styles Before the Tang Dynasty is the final output of the project "e;A Study of Eulogistic and Praising Styles Before the Tang Dynasty"e; (19FZWB066), which was supported by the National Social Science Fund in its later stages. Based on ancient literary theories and anthologies such as Wenxin Diaolong and Selections of Literature, Professor Zhang Zhiyong of Hebei University, in combination with the latest research achievements in the current academic circle, meticulously combs through and traces the origins, development, and evolution of the two stylistic forms of eulogies and praises from ancient times to the Wei-Jin and Southern and Northern Dynasties from a macro perspective that integrates history, culture, and literature. By linking the revival of four-character poems during the Han-Wei period with the flourishing of four-character eulogies, the book conducts textual research and discrimination, elucidating the internal connections between the two stylistic forms. This has important enlightening significance for further restoring and constructing the literary and literary theory ecological landscape of the Han-Wei period. Meanwhile, when discussing the stylistic form of "e;folk eulogies,"e; the book also touches upon ancient musical storytelling, actually outlining the main thread of the development and evolution of China's storytelling and musical performance arts in the pre-Qin period, which also has positive reference value for ancient music research.
