Forgetting

Forgetting is necessary for psychological life, because what our eyes see every day, every hour, and every moment cannot be counted, nor is everything that reaches us through the senses. If we mentioned everything, the sublime would be mixed with the trivial, and the useful would be mixed with the idle and the false. Then life, by its nature, is evolving and changing, in which a person needs to adapt himself to these changing colors of life, so he is forced to liberate himself from the past by forgetting it so that he can adapt to the new life. Therefore, forgetting was necessary for human freedom, so that he would not return to his past life as it was. The use of memory requires a choice, and we must improve this choice if we want to succeed in life. A person remains a slave to his past life, living in it forever and never departing from its circle. Forgetting is often a natural reaction to the safety and uprightness of life. A person may experience tragic memories whenever he recalls them due to intense pain, such as a person whose wealth was lost or who lost his only son. If he is unable to forget of his own free will, or if nature does not help him to lose memory, he prefers death to a full life. In pain, I committed suicide.
