Fifth Room

During a cathedral restoration in Siena, architect Isabella Greco discovers a hidden chamber behind the wall of the Chapter House. With art historian Dr. Jean Roux, who reveals his connection to the ancient Custodes Secretorum brotherhood, Isabella uncovers a secret passage activated by a mechanism disguised as a consecration cross beneath a fresco of Prudence. The chamber holds an extraordinary secret a fifth wall that appears only after Isabella confesses her deepest lie about professional misconduct in Milan. This fifth wall serves as a portal to what the Custodes called "e;the Fifth Room,"e; a space where reality itself is malleable and responsive to consciousness. Isabella and Jean discover this chamber was created to preserve dangerous knowledge: the "e;Fifth Truth"e; that reality is shaped by perception and belief, allowing those who understand to move between possibilities. They also locate Luca, an apprentice who accidentally traveled through the portal months earlier and found himself living in an alternate version of his life.
