There are chronicles of lies, deceit, hurt, anger, irresponsibility, and remnants of sexual violence written without names to prevent the shame and pain they've cause family members and others in real life. Sexual abuse is a very, sensitive subject for many ; however in this book it is not to be feared. I want the numbers of individuals to know that have not been brave enough to tell their story that the time is now! This book is not just for my family, but for the many families that are hiding behind a mountain of a secrets and walls of burdens that destroy many families throughout the world. If you are a member of the LGBTQ community, there is something in this book for you too! The struggle and fear of family sexual abuse and other types of sexual violence play a major part in the let- down of many young women, and men in today's societies, this very violent behavior is mind blowing. When the family secret came to visit me in my family it took my breath away all the while it was then I knew I needed to do something, and that something was to educate myself and my large number of family and friends about a subject that's more than often kept out of the spot light. Countless individuals read studies conducted throughout the world about sexual abuse and other types of sexual violence, but when this horrific reign of terror comes to visit you first- hand it is a rude awaking. Although there are several types of healing processes known in today's , society often people forget that fear play an astronomical role in even attempting to take the first step in any of them. As sensitive of a subject as this is we must gather the courage to tell our truth so that we can help ourselves and other's to be whole. We can't win the war if we never partake in the battle. It is my hope that after you read The Family Secret you will open your eyes and heart to help yourself, or someone else that have experienced sexual abuse. The book tells of the many children and adults that have fallen victim to a family member, so called friend, church members, and strangers that no one not even the victims got a chance to know. It also speaks volumes of healing and forgiveness for a crime committed too often without open consequences.
