From the moral theories of Plato and Aristotle to the deconstructivist ethics of Levinas and Derrida, there have been numerous debates on "e;ethics"e; throughout history. Based on postmodern theoretical trends, this book systematically explores the emergence of "e;ethical criticism"e; in the second half of the twentieth century. The book first takes the topic of the Other as its theoretical origin, traces the course of the Other's return to oblivion, and analyzes the ethical dilemmas and theoretical breakthroughs that have emerged as a result; then it analyzes in detail the unique understanding of the ethics of Celine's poetic creation by Adorno, Levinas, and others; and then it explores the ethical aspects of the principles of the American Objective school of poetry, the linguistic anxieties of the Confessionalist poets, and the ethical problems of Plath, and the ethical problems of the American Objectivist poets, in terms of the study of literary genres, authors, and works, respectively. Plath's linguistic anxiety, and the ethics of community in Lord of the Flies; finally, based on the two dimensions of literary writing in the context of the return of the Other and the borderline challenge of ethics, the hot topics of contemporary ethical criticism are organized.
